Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.

Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull moment. Kendyl made the hour and a half trip again that spring.

On the first day of classes this year, I texted Kendyl to let her know how much I missed her. Though I know she is happier at her new school, I made sure to tell her she always has a place to stat if she wants to visit! My school year started off rough. I called her all the time and kept her up to date with what was happening. Friday afternoon, Kendyl texted me and shared how she wanted to come to visit. Without hesitation I told her yes and that she could come whenever! As soon as the text sent, I FaceTimed her and asked her what were the odds she packed up her stuff and left right now. In less than three minutes, I was able to convince Kendyl to make the trip and we had another memorable weekend.

Kendyl might not be a student at Ohio Northern anymore, but despite the distance, she has become my closest friend. When she is around, I feel like I do not have to worry about anything else going on. We spend the whole weekend smiling, laughing, and being grateful for the time we do get to have together. Each time Kendyl comes up is better than the last, but this weekend, she hang with my sorority littles too! She was able to meed them when she visited before but this weekend, we were able to spend more quality time all together. I am so happy that Kendyl came up and cannot wait for the next time she visits!

Kendyl met them last time she came up this year but this time the four of us hung out all weekend together. The four of us were able to have the best weekend and I loved it!

  1. I love that your friends are able to jus drop everything to come see you! Sometimes you need that interaction with people outside of Ohio Northern to feel sane again. When school and roommates start to stress us out, it's finding the right people to take those worries away. I'm glad you were able to see Kendyl and enjoy your weekend!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ
