When looking at the content that is in chapter five of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "Instagram is the second most popular social media network for advertisers today. It's a great platform to reach a younger demographic and to tell stories in a more visual way." I think this short section of text really explains why the growth of Instagram has made such an impact for businesses that started using Instagram as a way of advertising their business.
In the recent year Instagram has shown a lot of growth in the way that they are running the app, by adding many more advertisements to your feed but additionally by adding the shopping page you are able to look and buy things right off of Instagram. By doing this is have adding a whole new part to their app that is helping both the company and the owners of the shops. Additionally, when showing interest in an ad it you feed will start showing similar ads to it. For example, I love shoe and if I see a shoe ad on Instagram, I will for sure be opening up that ad to look more into it. Now, every time I go onto Instagram all of my ads are about shoes. This is a very smart strategy because they know that if they put a shoe ad in my feed I will most likely tap on it. I might not alway buy what I am looking at but if I click on the same product many times I do end up buying it and their advertising strategy works.
Instagram also does a really good job of making the ads fit into the feed by making the images that you might see posted by others. I think that this helps attract the younger generations because the ads are not words but rather visuals. Even as a college student, I enjoy this because I am able to see what I would be getting rather than reading text about it. This also helps sell the product because you are able to see what you would be buying right away. I think that Instagram has made many improvements that are truly helping the app excel in many ways.
