My Littles

Friday night was for sure a highlight of the school year! In Greek life, we have something called big/little. A big is someone who you look at as a mentor in life. The connection you make with your big throughout college, lasts a lifetime. This is a huge deal for the new member and the potential new bigs. Girls will spend hours going on different dates with members to make sure they find someone they connect with but for me, this was the easiest thing ever.

Since the start of the school year, there have been two freshmen, Katie and Becca that have meant so much to me. They both joined Alpha Xi and I could not have been happier. Becca is on the lacrosse team with me and we spend of a good amount time together so we have been able to get really close. Katie is in the same friend group as Becca so that is how we met but as time has passed, she started meaning so much more to me.

At our weekly meeting with all of the girls in our sorority, someone said that we needed to start going on dates for big/little but I never really thought about going on dates because I already knew who I wanted. I never questioned having anyone else but the one problem is, having two littles (twins) is not a popular option. Each year, some girls do not even get one little so for me to get twins was almost for sure a no.  After talking to Becca and Katie, they were both in love with the idea of being a twin so now all I had to do was talk to the president and see if it was possible. After meeting with her multiple times, she approved allowing someone in the chapter to get twins and I could not have been happier!

On the night of big/little, all of the members gathered in the house and we waited for different duos to get revealed to each other. I was at the end of the line and waiting felt like forever. After an hour, it was finally our turn, I walked up behind the sheet and waited while Becca and Katie were getting moved to the other side. The sheet dropped and we all ran and gave each other the biggest hug! Katie turned in and said "It is official!" Hearing her say that meant everything to me. We have all been waiting so long to officially become a family and it finally happened.

  1. Sydney, I am so happy you got the two littles that you wanted! I know the process is problem kinda challenging to pick people you barley know but still have to choose someone you get along with! I hope you have great friendship forever!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
