TikTok may be a newer platform, but with the rapid growth of the app, there are many benefits for businesses. There are many different ways for companies to get their name out on the platform and a good portion of the time it works. Smaller businesses use TikTok in a way that is very helpful to promote their product that people would have not heard of. Other ways that companies are using TikTok as a marketing tool are pop up ads, content creator paid promotion, or build in ads.

I think that these ads are the bigger companies because if it is showing right when the app is opening, it is going to cost more and smaller businesses can not afford this cost. These ads get the most views on the app because of the skip in five seconds so viewers have to stay and hear what the brand is.
Content creators are another way of getting your business known. Businesses will have the more famous TikToker make views using or promoting their product. This is a very popular way for smaller businesses to get the product they make more known. They will send a sample of what they are selling to TikToker and they will make videos promoting it. Some of the time, the company will give a code to get a sale on the website. This type of promotion is hit or miss because it depends if the viewer stays and watches the video or if they just go to the next one. Additionally, if the viewer watches the whole video, will they end up purchasing the product?
TikTok might be a new social media platform but the growth that it has made in the last year is huge. That’s a good point about not knowing if providing promotion codes or sales in a video will work or not. It is definitely possible that a user will skip over the video, but I think that is an issue on every platform. No matter what platform an ad is displayed on, users can easily ignore the ad. It is important to stress the importance of buying your product to the user in the moments you have their attention in order to turn that user into a sale.
