Thanksgiving Break

What a time to be home! All of the stress of classes has been getting to me and what I needed the most was to be at home with my family. When I first got home, I was able to sit down and spend time catching up with everyone with my family. My younger sister and brother caught me up on everything that I have missed the last couple weeks and there was a lot! One of the newest additions to the house is Cassie, my grandma's puppy. A month ago, my grandma got sick and just got a new puppy but she was able to fully take care of the puppy until she got better so she has been at my house and it has been crazy. My family already has two dogs and three cats so adding a puppy to the mix has been crazy yet so much fun.

When at home, that means that I get to work for my favorite boys, Nolan and Cooper. I have been working for them for three years and every time I am home from school I get to work for them. This week was very cold so we went on different trips each day. On Monday, we took a trip to the Cleveland Rainforest. Tuesday, we took a trip the the local farm zoo and the library. My mom took me to the farm zoo when I was younger and taking the boys brought back all of those memories. I am very close friends with the daughter of the owner so she walked around with us and let the kids do some very special things. Wednesday, we took a trip to the inside playground with some of their friends. This was a fun way to end the week of working with the boys and I was so happy that I was able to spend part of my week with the kids.

I love being able to go home and spend time with all of the people that I love most. Being close with my family is something that brings me so much joy. At the end of the day, I always know that they will always be there for me. I also know that I have family here at Ohio Northern that supports me with anything I need. Having a sense of family up at school makes it easier when I am away from Cleveland and not able to be with a family.

  1. It sounds like you had a great time at home! I worked while home too, but my job isn't nearly as fun as taking trips to the Rainforest. I understand how you feel when having a support system here. It definitely makes life a little easier knowing you have people to turn to.

  2. It definitely seems like you had a great Thanksgiving break! I know how you feel when you talk about having been so stressed out that you needed to be at home with family. I was in the same position, everything seems to become so hectic right before we head into a break. However, it's nice to be able to get away from all that and destress by being around our loved ones. I'm glad you were able to travel home and spend some time with your family. I hope you have a great last couple of weeks as we wrap up this semester!

  4. Update on Cassie. Cassie is back with grandma and doing great, except for the few extra pounds she put on over Thanksgiving. Cassie is glad to be home with grandma and has already lost 2 pounds. Don’t we all wish it was that easy to lose weight during the holidays!!

Looking forward to seeing Sydney during winter break!!! Love ya!!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
