Goodbye Summer 2022

Coming back to school is very exciting, but there is so much at home that will be missed! Over the summer, I was able to nanny for two little boys that live in the same neighborhood as me and sadly this will be my last summer with that job. I have been working for the family for the last three year and it will be the hardest goodbye. I was able to watch these boys grow up and while I know it won't be the last time I see them, it is the last time I will be with them all summer.

My boys did not only have an impact on my life, they were able to be a part of my family. Every day when we would go to the lake on the golf cart, we would always make a stop at my house to see all my pets and say hi to my family. After a couple weeks they learned when the windows were open, they would be able to yell my siblings and mom's name and they would all come outside to say hi to them. Additionally, they had little chores they would do to earn a popsicle. One of their favorites was watering the plants or taking in or out the trash cans. Once a week, their whole family would come over for dinner because our family were always close and while I am in college, they want to keep having the dinner and FaceTiming me after they are done just so I feel involved.
Some of the highlights of the summer included going to the zoo, the farm, the lake, having picnics, and having lemonade stands. One of the biggest benefits of working in my neighborhood is my best friend also works there for two little girls who are the same age as my boys so we were able to hangout almost every day! This summer may be over but I am so happy that I made so many memories that will last a lifetime.

  1. Babysitting is such a fun summer job. It is always sad when you work with kids and you have to leave, you don't realize the impact you have on them until you're not around. I had a few kids at my summer job that always notice when I'm gone and it breaks my heart.

  2. This is absolutely adorable!! The fact you get paid to do something you love and make memories with those kids is so wholesome. Your neighbors will remember you forever; you have significantly impacted their lives, if you know it or not. I'm glad you had a fantastic summer, but I'm happy you are back!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
