Mud Volleyball

Over the weekend, my favorite event happened, mud volleyball. This is the one event on campus that I make sure to participate in every year. This year was a little bit different when it came to my team. Most years, I play with all of the girls on the lacrosse team but things have changed and it worked out for the better!

During the first week of classes, I was asking all of my friends if we wanted to make a team. I got a lot of no but there were some people who were down to play. The team this year had my housemates, Alpha Xi girls, two of my softball friends, and my best friend. This team was a group of random people. I was so excited to play one last year.

The women's division of mud volleyball starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday which was very early for everyone on the team. We had some girl who showed up late but everyone was able to make it. When we all got there, we all talked for a bit and made it clear that we wanted to win the whole thing. They announced who we were playing and we talked over to get into the mud.

The mud was very cold but it woke up everyone on the team. We got the ball to start and things did not go well to start. At one point the score was 1-11 and my team was not winning. It took us a couple tries but we were able to get the score to 14-14. For a while, the score went back and forth of who was up, it was a very close game. At the end of the game, we lost by one point and it was very sad. I really wanted to win but we had so much fun playing
! After we lost, everyone was splashing each other with all of the mud. I am very sad that it was my last time but I could not have asked for a better time!

Comments

  1. My basketball teammates and I decided to play in the mud volleyball tournament this weekend! I was surprised at how cold the mud pits were. Some of my teammates were diving into the mud and others were trying not to get too muddy. One time, I went to serve and completely fell on my butt. My team was super competitive, and we won the whole thing! I think we are planning on playing in the co-ed division next year.

  2. I wish I would have gotten a team together for mud volleyball this year! It always seems like such a fun time for everyone. My roommate played this year and she said she had mud up her nose for days after! Way to go out with a great group of people!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
