Weekend Visitors

Over the weekend, my best friend, Megan's parents came to visit from Chicago, IL. This wasn't the first time that I have met her parents but every time they come up, we always have the best time! They arrived on Friday after we were done with class and we all caught up with each other. There has been so much crazy stuff that has happened since the start of the school year so there was a lot to talk about. After some time, her parents went to check into their hotel and also go to the store and get stuff to make a homemade dinner. This was one of the most exciting parts of the weekend! It has been so long for all of us since we have had a good homemade parent meal. Her dad made us steak, salad, potatoes, and carrots, it was the best meal I have had since being here. After dinner, we hung around the house for a while and then decided that we wanted to walk over to my house to hangout with everyone there. We didn't stay out very long but it was still a super fun night!

Saturday morning, we woke up and Megan's parents made us all breakfast. It was super yummy and we all ate together at the dining room table. Being able to eat meal all together at the table really reminded me of being home and eating with my family, which made it very special. After breakfast, I went back to house for a couple hours to hang out with all of the girls that live with me. We played a couple round of Mario Kart before I went back to Megan's house to go out to dinner with her parents. We went to Tavern in town and it was super good! While it was not as good as our homemade meal the night before, it was still really good food. After dinner, we all hung out at my house for a couple of hours. Megan's parents went back to the hotel after some time and Megan and I hung out with everyone at my house till the end of the night.

Sunday was a sad day, Megan's parents were leaving. I came over late in the morning to say goodbye to her family. I love being around them and they have become my second family while being in school. After they left, we all watched some football and did some homework. My friend Emily and I decided we wanted to make game day dips so we went to the store and bought everything. We ended up making buffalo chicken dip, queso, and guacamole. They were so yummy but I had more fun making them all. After a long day of homework and football, it was time to start the school week again.

  1. It was so much fun getting to hang out with Megan's parents! Her dad was on my team for flip cup this past weekend and we won every time. I think every weekend should be parents weekend!

  2. I am glad you go to spend the weekend with Megan's parents! Parents sure know how to make you feel at home wherever you are at. I am sure they enjoyed cooking and taking you to dinner. While students get homesick, parents miss their kids just as much! I think it is important to have weekends when parents can come to see our college lives. My family didn't visit ONU last weekend, but I stopped by my younger brother's baseball game in Findlay. It will be nice to go home for fall break weekend as a reset before basketball season officially starts.

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
