Happy Bid Day!

After all of the recruiting, it is time to meet all of the new members! This is one of my favorite days of the year, it is so much fun hanging out with all of the new members that just joined. Each year there is a different theme for your chapter. This year Alpha Xi Delta's theme was "So Fresh, So Clean, So Alpha Xi." There were a lot of bubbles, pastel colors, balloons, and rubber ducks. The best way to think of our theme this year was the bathtub theme. While it sounded very different, everything looked so good! The banners we had hanging were so cute and the whole house looked amazing.

First thing that happens on bid day is all of the new members run home. This was very exciting for my whole friend group because one of our closest friends went through recruitment and got to run home to all of us. It was the most amazing feeling! After what felt like hours of taking pictures, everyone went inside to eat lunch. This was a great time for all of the new members to meet the current members and get to learn more about the people we meet during the very stressful round.

After all of the day time activities, some of the current members took all of the new girls out to ice cream. This allows everyone to be in a stress free setting where they can be themselves. When we went, there were about ten of us that went so all of the new girls were not in "sorority girl mode" and able to be themselves. Seeing all of the new girls out of their shell for the first time is one of the best feelings. I am so happy with all of the new girls that we were able to meet through the whole process and sad that it is my last bid day.

  1. I felt the same way going into Zeta's Bid Day. I was happy meeting all of our new girls, but also really sad that it was my last one. Hanging out with everyone was one of my favorite parts of bid day and it sounds like it was yours too!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
