Home for Fall Break

While school has been amazing, there is no better feeling than going home. This is going to be the first time that I am going home this school year and I could not be more excited! What is more exciting about going home is that my best friend, Megan, is going to be coming home with me. She is from Chicago, IL which is too far for her to come home so I invited her to come home with me for the weekend. She knows my family very well so I am so excited for her to come to Cleveland with me again.

On Friday, we spent two and a half hours driving home where we met everyone from the family. Everyone was very excited to see us because it has been so long since we have been home and it was so much fun to catch up with everyone on what has happened while we were gone. Friday night, I took Megan to the high school football game. While this might not be fun to everyone, my younger sister is the leader of the student section so we were able to hang out and have a blast leading all of the students. Unfortunately, they lost the game but it was still very fun to hang out with my sister.

Saturday was a lot of homework but also shopping. While we love being in Ada, there are not many places to shop around. Megan and I went to all of our favorite locations to stock up on everything we would need till Thanksgiving break. Sunday morning, we went apple picking. This is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. We went to the apple farm and picked out some apples and also convinced my parents to get pumpkins. Fall is my favorite season so I was so excited to do all of the fall activities with them!

Monday we chilled, worked on some homework and went on a hike. I am lucky enough to live near a National Park so we were able to go and hike around for a bit. This was a great way for us to get outside and enjoy all of the fresh air. Tuesday we went back to campus to get back to our crazy busy lives. Being seniors there is alway so much work to do because of capstone projects but it was a really nice break while it lasted!

  1. Going home and catching up with everyone is one of my favorite things I look forward to during breaks! While I didn't go apple picking at Patterson's, I did go to their other location and picked up some pumpkins, doughnuts and apple cider!

  2. Fall break is such a needed break in the semester. I'm so glad that Ohio Northern has had it implemented for many years. It sounds like you had a great time with your family and your best friend! I hope you're feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of the semester. You said you're from Cleveland area, so was it Cuyahoga Valley where you went hiking? That park is so beautiful!

Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ

Unexpected Visits

Ohio Northern is an amazing school but freshman year, my best friend, Kendyl transferred halfway through the academic year. She was unhappy on campus and knew that the best thing was for her to leave. I supported her knowing that Ohio Northern was not the place for her anymore but ever since, I felt like a part of me is missing. Throughout the remainder of the year, Kendyl and I would FaceTime at least once a week, as this was the best way to stay in touch and feel connected to each other.  Sophomore year came around and I was really struggling. I did not enjoy my major and was having minor roommate problems. Kendyl recognized that I was miserable and asked what she could do to help me feel better. I conceded that a weekend visit would really help. At first she did not think she would be able to, but after some convincing she made the trip. This was the best weekend I had all year! Whenever we are together, we always have the best time. Laughing the whole time, there is never a dull mo
