Christmas Formals

Each year, Alpha Xi Delta hosts their Christmas formals which is one of the nicest events that we throw in the fall semester. This allows everyone in the chapter to get all dressed up and spend time with each other. This year, we were able to bring dates with us so I brought Megan. Megan knows a lot of the girls in my sorority because a couple of our friends are in the chapter so it was super fun to hang out with everyone. We started getting ready for the formal a couple hours before it started so before people could come to my house to take pictures and hang.  After some time, we all headed to the event and it was so much fun! When we first went there, we spent 30 minutes taking pictures of the different backdrops that they had set up. It was nice to have different options and fun to take pictures with everyone in the chapter. After some time, we went back upstairs and got hot chocolate and sat at the tables. Everyone talked for time and caught up with everyone else. Once everyone was

Thanksgiving Break

Nothing is better than being at home with your family and being able to spend time with all of your friends. Being able to go home for Thanksgiving my favorite break is my favorite by far. When first going home, it was my sister's birthday so we went out to dinner and then went to one of our family friend's house. Over the weekend, I stayed at home and did homework. This really helped me feel a lot better when coming back to campus. There are so many assignments with the semester coming to an end but we are in the final weeks.  Through the week, I was able to be with some of my friends that I do not see much when I am at school. All of my friends and I go to different schools so the only time that we all get together is when we are on break. We watched the movie The Greatest Showman on the projector in my garage and had snacks. Everyone brought a different snack that reflected their personality. I brought a trail mix because you never know when it comes to me. I can be really s

Dad's Day

On Saturday, my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta held their annual dad's day celebration. This is a day that we have some activities planned with our dads. Saturday morning, my dad came up and I was so excited! Last week was one of the hardest weeks for me mentally and my dad coming up was so helpful. To start the day, a lot of the girls in Alpha Xi came over to my house to hang out before the real event started. This was a very relaxed way for all of the dads to meet each other and also all of us girls to just chill together. We had some fruit and drinks for everyone to have. Most of the dads drove in that morning so we wanted to have something for them to munch on.  After the gathering at my house, we moved to the tailgate that we had planned. This was one of my favorite events that we hosted all year! While it was so cold out, we were enjoying the time that we were able to have with our dads. Some of the girls were making snowballs with the little snow that was on the ground and throwi

Self Defense Class

Over the weekend, Alpha Xi had our sisterhood event and it was very different from years before. At noon, everyone met in the house so we could have lunch together. They got us Chick-fil-A and we all were able to sit around, eat and catch up. Everyone has been so busy this semester that it has been hard to hangout without distractions. After lunch, we played a game that helped break the ice between the new sister and the current sister. I really enjoyed this activity because both of my g-little are new members and I was able to learn so much new stuff about them. Once we finished our bonding game we did a quick run to Starbucks and off to the self defense class.  Once in the self defense class, it was not what I expected. They first taught us about making sure not to put ourselves in bad situations. This can be not parking in dark allies, making eye contact with a potential attacker, or carrying pepper spray. Once the instructor finished talking to us, we split into groups and started

Happy Halloween Weekend!

Happy Halloween! This is one of my favorite holidays of the year and this year was the best so far! On Thursday, my friends' and I handed out candy to all the kids in Ada. This was so much fun, we sat around the fire because it was really cold out and we had apple cider. We did not know how many kids would come by us at the house because we had around 75 kids. Everyone was so friendly and so many of the families were talking with us about plans after college and how we have enjoyed our years.  Being a senior, it was very sad talking about leaving Ada and moving on to a new part in my life but it is also very exciting.  On Friday, we had a pizza night and sat by the fire all night. We had a couple of pizza in the house and after class, we watched a movie. Since Halloween is around the corner, we decided that we would watch a scary movie. I could not be happier, I love scary movies. The unknown that comes with watching scary movies is my favorite thing. After the movie was over, we a

Big/Little

Friday night was a very exciting night for my Alpha Xi family, I became a grandma! Last year I was able to get my littles and this year both of my littles were able to get their own littles. I was so excited for them. Becca has Abby who is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is one of the happiest people and loves being a part of Alpha Xi. Katie got Maddie and I could not be happier about this. Maddie was one of the girls that I talked to during recruitment and we got along so well. From the first moments of talking to her, I knew that I wanted her to be a part of my family.  Each year big little has a theme and this year was socks. So the big and little pairing would have matching socks and the goal was to find your match. In addition to that, my littles want to dress up in a theme and they choose Despicable Me. While I loved this idea, I got the honor of dressing up as Gru and they wanted me to go full out. While I thought this was a very funny idea, this did not set us

Welcome to Ada!

While I was just home last weekend, my parents wanted to come up for the weekend. One of the main reasons for them coming is Megan's parents were also coming up and this would be the first time they have met. We wanted to have a tailgate for the football game with them to get to hangout with all of our friends. In addition to hanging out with Megan's parents, my older brother and I surprised my parents by driving down to The University of Cincinnati to pick up my younger brother,  Aiden.  They haven't seen him since leaving for school so we thought this would be really cool for him to join us this weekend. When my parents saw Aiden, they were shocked. They had no idea that we were going to pick him up for the weekend. This made this whole weekend that much more fun!  We all got the our tailgate location in the late morning. The parents set up all of the food that was made and everyone enjoyed each others' company. A lot of Megan and I's friends showed up to socializ
