Fall Ball

While lacrosse is a spring sport, teams are able to have a month-long season in the fall called fall ball. This is a short period where you are able to get all of the new members of the team adjusted in the way that things are done at your school. For the first time, we have two transfer students who have played at other schools plus there are seven freshmen that are new to college lacrosse. One of the hardest things about fall ball is teaching all of the freshmen how to play college lacrosse because it is a very different sport compared to high school. Many of the girls have a very easy transition but sometimes, it will take some girls the extra help to figure it out but all of the upperclassmen are always willing to help anyone out.  Once everyone arrives at school, we start with the conditioning and some stick skills. We will get put into two groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This allows girls to go at a time that will work with their schedule. After about two wee

Chapter Seven Post

When looking at the content that is in chapter seven of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "today Snapchat helps businesses reach a unique audience, raise brand awareness, increase consideration, and drive action. Using Snapchat will not only increase a brand's "cool factor," but, as indicated, it is also a great way for businesses to reach a younger demographic as this is the social network where high school and college students are hanging out. Snapchat is also a great platform for interacting and developing relationships with followers on a one-to-one basis with the ability to send snaps, direct messages or live video calls to individual Snapchat users." Snapchat is an app that if used correctly can have many benefits that businesses can take advantage of.  When looking at the app of Snapchat as a whole, at the start there were not many ads but now there are ads t

Chapter Six Post

When looking at Twitter as a whole, the platform is a good way to let others know what you are thinking but additionally, helping promote things that are going on around. This is a feature that businesses should be using a lot because it helps people to connect with what you are posting. Additionally, taking advantage of the retweet feature which will help others who are following you spread what you are saying. When thinking of the many times I have been on Twitter, I will see companies use the phrase, "Retweet if you..." which I think is a really smart way for companies to spread what they are trying to say. With this, you are able to connect with the people that follow you but they are also spreading your message.  When looking at the content that is in chapter six of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "Twitter is a very powerful tool for businesses looking to leverage

The Beach Squad

While being at school is very fun, getting FaceTime calls from the kids that I nannied over the summer makes me miss all of the memories that I made this summer. One of my favorite things from summer was my group that we called The Beach Squad. The Beach Squad was our group that would always go to the beach everyday and we would be there from nine in the morning till five in the afternoon. The people that were in the group were my best friend, Amelia and the two girls that she nannied, Scottie and Mia. Additionally, it was me and the kids I watched, Matthew, Luke, Beau, and Sophia.           Everyday, we would start off our morning doing the summer reading and math that their mom wanted to get done. Once we finished, we would as a group make the lunch that we wanted to take down to the beach. I would tell each kid what food they should grab so we were able to get it done fast, this was also a way to get them all to help out. After we packed our lunches, everyone would go put

Chapter Five Post

When looking at the content that is in chapter five of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "Instagram is the second most popular social media network for advertisers today. It's a great platform to reach a younger demographic and to tell stories in a more visual way." I think this short section of text really explains why the growth of Instagram has made such an impact for b usinesses that started using Instagram as a way of advertising their business.          In the recent year Instagram has shown a lot of growth in the way that they are running the app, by adding many more advertisements to your feed but additionally by adding the shopping page you are able to look and buy things right off of Instagram. By doing this is have adding a whole new part to their app that is helping both the company and the owners of the shops. Additionally, when showing interest in a

Alpha Xi Delta

This time of the year is a very important time for girls who are in Greek life because it is recruitment time! Over the weekend, we had three rounds of recruitment, philanthropy, sisterhood, and preference. After all of the rounds, we have Bid Day which is a day where we celebrate all of the new members that have joined and this year I was in charge of running it. In philanthropy we explain the organization that we work with which for my sorority it is Kindly Heart Campagne. Which is partnering with your town and helping them get back on their feet with all of the covid effects. During this round, you are able to get many new girls and get the vibe of the new girls that might join your chapter. I really enjoy this round because we are able to have a say on who is joining and I really love meeting all the people who would love to join.  The next day is sisterhood night which is when you get paired with girls that you have more stuff in common with. This day I was talking to a girl in ev

Mario Kart

Trying to relax over the extended has been a very hard task for my friends and I. We all have a lot of homework and exams that we need to study for so it feels like there is no time to enjoy ourself. In addition to that, I am the chairman for bid day (sorority recruitment) so this is my busiest time of the school year. Trying to play an event that all of the new members will remember but also that is just as good as the years before is a difficult task.  One of the most important things that I have learned through my years of college is how important it is to have study breaks. For myself, I have to take a break about every 30 minutes to refocus and take a second away from all of the work. If not studying in the library with my friends, we will normally come back to my apartment to study. This allows us when taking our breaks to play a game of Mario Kart.           While Mario Kart might seem like a game that is very outdated, to my friend group it is our go to game

Chapter Four Post

When looking at the content that is in chapter four of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "when it comes to posting content on social media, many expert recommend following the social media rule of thirds, which states that 1/3 of the content should promote the business; 1/3 of the content should be shared from other businesses, industry leaders, news articles, or other pages; and 1/3 of the content should be based on personal interactions with employees, customers, and followers on social media." I think this section of text is a great example of how Facebook should be used when running a business. I really enjoy following and supporting small businesses because being from a very small town we have so many locals that have their own shops and rely on it for their income. Facebook has become a huge location where people are posting about their businesses and posting upcoming event

Walking in Circles

With classes picking up, my friend and I wanted to make sure we were still able to hangout. One of the main ways that we were able to make sure that we are still able to hang out is by walking every night before we wanted to settle down for the night. My friends are all athletes at Ohio Northern and with everyone having a very busy schedule, we want to make sure that we are able to have time to catch up with each other. Additionally, we all are different majors so we are unable to see each other in class so we really rely on this time to see each other. Each night, we would meet at a different person's room and hang out there for a little bit, after some time we leave and go on a walk. Some nights we walked on the Green Monster while other nights we found ourselves wandering around Ada. One of my favorite things about my friend group is that we are all able to focus on our academics and sports when that time is necessary but at the end of the day we are all able to come

Chapter Three Post

When looking at the content that is in chapter three of "Essential of Social Media Marketing," the section of text that I want to take a deeper look into is the part that reads, "each platform has its own language and audience, how those audiences share and communicate on each network differs." When looking deeper into this small section of text, I am able to see that this has a very important message within it. The concept that there are different ways to communicate on different platforms can be hard to understand this might be due to the fact that there are so many different platforms out there that knowing the different ways of communicating can take a second. An example of this can be Instagram versus TikTok, with Instagram, you are getting to your audience by posting pictures and then adding a caption under it to explain that event. When it comes to TikTok, you are posting short videos and have hashtags under that to connect with your audience. As m
